LAZOS — for Crafts Council Nederland
When experimenting with knots and crafting baskets by hand, I channeled a deep inner meaning. Textile techniques such as the macrame used in this project, have mostly been associated with women in many cultures and times. As these sculptural raffia baskets started to take shape they also became part of a mythical narrative. LAZOS are evocative of an imaginary ancestral land, where strong women create vessels for ritual use.
Commissioned by Crafts Council Nederland and presented during Dutch Design Week 2018.
