PAISAJE MÓVIL — kinetic sculpture workshop held in Colombia

In August 2019, I was invited by Fundación Promedio to conduct a creative one-day workshop in their studio on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia, amidst a lush native forest in the mountain.

The philosophy of this organization is based on sustainable use of industrial waste for the creation of architectural and design solutions, while protecting and respecting nature.

The aim of PAISAJE MÓVIL was to inspire through my work and techniques as a designer, a group of creative people of all ages, craving to come into contact with the contemplation of nature and experiment with their own hands.

We shared a beautiful afternoon connecting with the forest and experimenting with balance.

We began our experience with a brisk walk under the drizzle, exploring the premises of Fundación Promedio.

We encountered and collected a variety of botanical and mineral treasures.

Back in the workshop, we examined and interpreted these elements, their weight, shape and textures could tell a story…based on the balance of its parts.

This kinetic art form creates a visual equivalent of the harmony found in nature. To this end, we studied different methodologies for the construction of mobiles to encourage personal experimentation for both natural and man-made elements to coexist in harmony, reflecting the impressions that the territory and its identity imprint on us.

The contemplation, experimentation in total freedom of action by each participant produced diverse compositions, a visual equivalent of the harmony and tensions found in nature.

Cooperation brought interesting compositions.

Each participant created a unique vision.

At the end of the afternoon the sun came out during the group exhibition, where each creation was presented by its author and discoveries and lessons were discussed by the group.

There were many different approaches in shapes and style, of floating landscapes celebrating nature and human intervention.

We had a wonderful time with amazing people from all ages that got interested beyond my expectations.

Thanks to Fundación Promedio for hosting us. We are open to continue spreading the PAISAJE MÓVIL experience in new contexts around the globe.
