ASSEMBLY FOR REGENERATION — installation

Assembly for Regeneration is a communal textile space that invites visitors to reflect on alternative and more responsible ways of producing and consuming. The installation is made entirely of natural materials, using plant-based fibers and pigments, as well as recycled elements. Following principles of circularity, the modular structure is also designed for disassembly, and most of its components are meant for reuse after the exhibition.

While there is much discussion on sustainability, society’s commitment to it is often vague and lacks clear action. This is why the installation invites visitors to step into the circle and sit facing each other, like ancestors did around a fire to discuss the future of their community. The circular shape stands as an emblem of cooperation and connectivity. Referencing nomadism, the installation proposes a lifestyle that is more simple and adaptable to the challenges that society will increasingly have to deal with due to climate change.

In a system where most consumers in the Global North are unaware of how things are made or where they come from, this installation serves as a reminder that clothes and household items are shaped by people from materials and processes that have a story, as well as an environmental and social impact. The unprecedented endeavor towards a circular economy needs to consider and engage the whole of society, on both local and global scales. This is why I propose an Assembly for Regeneration.
